Man on a mountain trail

About Me

Hello, and thank you for stopping by.

My name is Paul Williams. I'm 57 years old, married to a wonderful woman who puts up with me more than I deserve, and I'm standing at one of the biggest crossroads of my life — the doorstep of retirement.

For most of my adult life I've done what most of us do. Work hard. Provide. Keep moving. But somewhere along the way I started asking questions that don't have easy answers.

What comes next? What does God actually call us to in this season? Is retirement just... stopping? Or is it something I could shape into something meaningful — something slower, simpler, and more intentional?

I don't have it all figured out. Not even close.

But I'm figuring it out — and I want to do it out loud, here, with you.

What you'll find on this site is a real journey. Not a polished expert telling you what to do. Just a normal middle-aged man working through the questions most of us quietly ask but rarely talk about:

  • How do you simplify a life that's accumulated decades of stuff — physical, emotional, and otherwise?
  • What would it look like to own a little land, grow some food, and live at a slower pace?
  • How do you find purpose when the paycheck stops and the calendar clears?
  • What does God have to say about all of this?

These are the things I'm wrestling with. And faith — my sometimes-sturdy, sometimes-shaky Christian faith — is the thread running through all of it.

I still like to hike. I still say hi to every dog I pass on the trail. I still start my mornings with hot coffee and a little time with God. Some things don't change.

But a lot is changing. And I've found that writing it down, sharing the honest parts of it, and hearing from others walking a similar road — that makes the journey better.

So come with me. We'll figure this out together.

God bless,
Paul
